William DuFour Lang (Bill) passed away in his sleep on December 13, 2016. He joins his beloved wife, Sara Shields Lang (Scootie), who predeceased him.

Bill was born September 25, 1928, in Richmond, Virginia, to Margaret DuFour Lang and J. William Lang. His early years were spent in Charlotte, NC, after which he lived in Savannah, Georgia, and attended Benedictine Military School. After graduation, he joined the US Army, and was stationed at Ft. Bragg with the 82nd Airborne.

He attended Georgia Tech as a reservist, and it was there at a college football game that he had a blind date with Scootie, the woman who would become his wife for more than 63 years.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in June, 1951, he married Scootie Shields on September 15. He was called upon to serve in Korea less than a year later, returning safely in Spring, 1953, and meeting his 4 month daughter for the first time.

Bill worked at Florida Power and Light in Miami, Florida, and later in Jupiter, Florida, for over 37 years.

Bill is survived by his children, Carol D, Lang, William D. Lang Jr. (Lisa), and Robert B. Lang (Monique), and his three grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, and Maya.

Bill was an avid boater, and we will fondly remember the many good times spent on the water with family and friends on Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys. In their later years, Bill & Scottie were able travel extensively to Europe, South America, and the U.S.

A good son, husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor, Bill will be greatly missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, December 16, 2016 at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center St., Jupiter, FL 33458. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am Saturday, December 17th at St. Jude Catholic Church, 204 N. US 1, Tequesta, FL Services and interment to be held in Savannah, Georgia at a later date.
