Rebecca Dean Gaylord, 80, a resident of Jupiter, FL for more than 50 years passed away on December 7, 2016 in Jupiter, FL. Graveside service will be held December 19, 10 AM at the Gaylord Family Cemetery in Roper NC. Rebecca (Becky) was born in Roper NC to the late William Vail and Dora Ballard Gaylord on July 3, 1936. She attended school in Roper and Creswell NC and graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville NC. She began her career as a home economics teacher and helped many young women learn home management skills. She later became a guidance counselor and helped young people on their career paths. Always with a giving heart and willingness to help, she was involved in several programs to help make children's lives better. For years she helped organize and provide multitudes of bicycles and gifts for the Migrant farmworker's children Christmas Party. She also extended a helping hand to any family member, providing shelter and love to many of her nieces and nephews, cousins and others whenever there was a need. She was always concerned with focusing on programs and activities that would help better the lives of others. After she retired from her teaching career, she ran an insurance business for years and was also a realtor in Jupiter. Becky is survived by her daughter Lisa Batts and Lisa's husband Carlos; granddaughter Carly Batts; sisters, Diane Gaylord, Judy Jantzen and brother, William Timothy Gaylord. She leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews and many devoted friends.
