Joshua Mark McClain, 48, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 8, 2017 in Fernandina Beach, Florida. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Kathryn McClain of Tequesta and Fernandina Beach, Florida; his brother, Ben (Misty) McClain of Tequesta; sister, Joanna (Jason) Hooper of St. Simons Island, Georgia; 3 nieces, 3 nephews and numerous relatives and friends. Josh graduated with a degree in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. For several years he worked as a geologist, both in Florida and California, but was always happiest working with his hands. He gradually migrated to working as an artisan, building gorgeous furniture, doing metal work, and at the time of his death, was building a beautiful wooden boat. Anyone who has a piece of Josh's work is lucky indeed. He sought perfection and precision in his work and was constantly striving to improve on each new creation. Josh had a quick wit and was famous for his one-liners, dog serenades and his buddies will be happy to know that he will be "parked in the shade". Josh was thoughtful and totally honest and will be remembered as one to never hesitate to share his from the heart opinions. He was generous to a fault and always sympathetic to anyone down on his or her luck. Josh was constantly trying to reinvent himself. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his many talents, his humbleness, his heartwarming smile. A celebration of Josh's life will be held at St. Jude's Catholic Church on July 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m in Tequesta, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Josh may be sent to the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County, 909 Fern Street, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.
